Sir,
I am commanded by the Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty to transmit for the information of the Secretary of State for the Colonies, a copy of a telegram from the Commodore in Charge at Hong Kong, dated the 10th January 1901, on the subject of the payment of $24,000 to the Colonial Authorities in respect of the new Murray Pier, and to request that the Secretary of State will be so good as to favour Their Lordships with an early reply to Admiralty letter of the 15th June 1900, W.L.1862/1923.
I am directed to point out that it should be understood that the arrangements mentioned in Paragraphs 2 to 4 of the above Admiralty letter are subject to Treasury sanction, which will be sought when the information asked for is received.
I am also to ask whether the work has been either commenced or completed.
